Comparing excel spreadsheets?

I have two sheets of text on excel with the same columns (e.g. name, address). These two sheets contain some overlapping information, and I want to pinpoint what information is the same and what is different so I can compile one list with all this data and no repetition. It sounds like VLOOKUP is what I need (correct me if I'm wrong)... can someone walk me through how to do this? I'm not very familiar with excel...
