What does this Confederate flag REALLY stand for?

Today it generally stands for Southern pride or white nationalism. It might not have always had a negative or less accepted meaning but today it is often considered offensive and politically incorrect. There are people who fly the flag who do not intend to use it for it's racist symbolism. I prefer to bury old symbols of the past which have lost all real meaning and only serve as instigator. If a person displays the flag they should expect that many people will see it as a racist symbol. The flag doesn't bother me personally but it is a tad insensitive and it could possibly communicate ignorance in the realm of historical significance.
