What are his chances of being released?

My friend got arrested for possession of narcotics near a school zone in Connecticut. He has a $5,000 bond and has been in jail for almost a month. His first court date is next week and I was wondering what his chances of being released until his next court date, or at least having his bond lowered? He had a previous underage drinking citation but other than that no other criminal record.
